Rubber floor tiles

Rubber granulate floor tiles is a type of indoor and outdoor flooring that is permanently elastic and made of rubber granulate bonded with a special binding agent, e.g. polyurethane.

Rubber flooring has become really popular lately. Its group of supporters is expanding rapidly because of numerous qualities of rubber floor tiles. They can be installed on various types of subfloors and areas, such as terraces, balconies, kindergartens and schoolyards, playgrounds, or around swimming pools. They are also suitable for installations indoors, for example in gyms and fitness centres.

Rubber floor tiles are pleasant in touch and softer than other flooring types. Nevertheless, they are very resilient and durable. They are manufactured from rubber granulate of various kinds bonded with polyurethane which also can be coloured and which determines the colour of a tile.

There are several rubber types that can be used in the production of rubber tiles, for example tyre rubber granulate (NR/SBR), EPDM (new coloured rubber granulate) or a mix of rubber types. If a tile consists of one particular type of rubber (pure recipe), then its qualities are constant and clearly-defined.

So, your subfloor should fulfill these 3 conditions:

– it should be permanently load-bearing,
– it should be quite flat,
– in case of balconies and roof terraces – it should be waterproof. Continue reading
